Hi fellow nomads,
I've decided that I need to take a more structured approach to using all the makeup in my stash. I tend to get comfortable with certain products and then use them to death, neglecting all my other pretty things. Sometimes this is because I'm not quite as sure how to use them successfully, and sometimes this is just because I forget I have them. Let’s move along from that glaring first world problem and swiftly on to the solution – the basket face.
The basket face works in the way you might imagine – I select a full face worth of products at the beginning of the week, put them in a handy basket, and use all of them (and only them) throughout the week.
Aside from the fact that this makes a pleasing pun, I'm happy with this system for the following reasons:
- It encourages me to try out different ways of using each product and find some looks I really like
- I can experiment with application methods and improve my makeup skillz in general
- I discover favourites more rapidly and equally, things that just don’t work for me
- I’ll shop my stash weekly, and stop buying new makeup
- It will speed up my getting ready in the morning – no hunting through my collection for products, fewer decisions about what to put on (just how!)
- The basket is very portable which means I can get ready anywhere (important when there is competition for mirrors!)
It also means I’ll have a good set of opinions on the contents of my basket by the end of the week. That means more opinions to share with you guys! Happy happy joy joy.
