ARK Skincare & The Elixir Clinic event – Grace Belgravia

Monday, 15 September 2014

Talking beauty in an exclusive members club in Belgravia, with skincare just waiting to be tried? What more could you ask for after work on a Friday, I ask you. A joint event between ARK Skincare and The Elixir Clinic, this was held at Grace Belgravia and I arrived keen to learn more about both brands.

ARK Skincare is a British skincare brand with a unique approach. Their products are organised by age range, so it’s easy to choose the right product line for you. There is cleanser, moisturiser, exfoliator and masque for 3 age ranges (teens to early thirties, mid thirties to fifty, and fifties and beyond) and then a range of 8 serums which you add-on based on your particular skincare concern. I think this approach is great because it’s tailored for you, without the choices being overwhelming. Their products are free from parabens, SLS, mineral oil, alcohol, formaldehyde and lanolin and are not tested on animals. Their packaging is pretty gorgeous, too, and everything is designed so you don’t have to stick your finger into a pot of goo - amazing. Why don’t more brands do this?! ARK also have their own salon in Putney, just down the road from their head office. The brand was developed for use in the salon, which means it’s very likely to be effective - otherwise their clients would never return! I left feeling like I wanted to try everything, which is rare for me. I'm enamoured by their philosophy, focus on quality ingredients and unique approach to skincare.

The Elixir Clinic offers ‘infusions’ which involves a solution of various vitamins being delivered to you intravenously. The benefits are said to include boosting your immunity, weight loss, increased energy and glowing skin. Honestly, this one wasn't for me. I'm not the biggest fan of needles, as much as I try and pretend I'm totally cool with them, so this may impinge on the results somewhat. It’s also a little out of my price range, with treatments around the £350 mark. Having said that, I'm well aware that as a coeliac I'm very likely to suffer from nutrient deficiencies, and with my diet restricted in this way in addition to any intestinal damage I may still have, I could probably use a vitamin boost. Unfortunately, until my ship comes in I’ll have to stick to eating my greens.

The event was held in Grace Belgravia, a health, wellbeing and lifestyle club for women. Now this place is something quite unique – not only do they have a gym, spa and café but they put on a range of social events, too. During September you can attend everything from an Indian cooking masterclass to an eating disorder discussion panel. Their café even does a home delivery service and a home chef for those who just can’t go a meal without its Californian style health food. The space is very classy but has a nice, relaxed feel. If I lived in London, I’d be sorely tempted to join. The range of events is impressive and the ambience a delight – not to speak of the Medical Clinic next door, which offers a wide variety of health care options.

The event was beautifully set up, with tea roses contrasting wonderfully with the fish wallpaper. The products had been set out carefully with plenty of opportunities to give them a try whilst being educated about their properties. We all had the chance of a manicure, a zingy smoothie or some tasty sushi.

I enjoyed meeting some fellow bloggers and I'm looking forward to trying out some more (plenty more) ARK products. I was sent home with a primer and a moisturiser to try, so watch this space for how I go with those. I now just need to refine my shopping list to something a little more helpful than “everything”. Perhaps a trip to the spa is called for…

My thanks to Psaila PR for inviting me, and for ARK Skincare, The Elixir Clinic and Grace Belgravia for hosting.
