Hi fellow nomads,
Once again, the time has come to delve into the deep recesses of my bin and see what I've been using up and throwing away. Who's with me?!
This Bin Diaries instalment contains not only the usual body care items that we all race through, but also some make up and perfume. How intriguing! Let's find out more...
Sure Women Maximum Protection confidence deodorant // This deodorant is fabulous and well worth the extra couple of pounds. It does keep you dry, which is good news considering the weather recently. The smell of this one was quite nice, subtle and girly but not too powdery.
To buy (again) or not to buy?: I've bought this again and will continue to buy this, it’s brilliant
Boots expert conditioning nail polish remover // It took me ages to finish this bottle, mostly because it’s pretty rubbish and partway through using this bottle, I discovered the magic nail removing pots with a sponge inside. So it was game over for the regular nail polish remover and cotton wool combo. This isn't a great nail polish remover and I didn't really enjoy using it.
To buy (again) or not to buy?: Nope. I'm out. Give me a Sephora pot of magic any day.
Wilko Zesty lime shower cream // Another Wilko shower cream! I’ll be brief so as you don’t all fall off your chairs in boredom. This is good. I liked the smell. The end.
To buy (again) or not to buy?: Yes, I have already bought it again
Wilko Grape flavoured lip balm // A double whammy for Wilko today. I bought this in a pack of 3, with 2 other delightful flavours, and this just happened the be the one I used up first. I liked the scent of this, and it is a decent petroleum based lip balm, just like Vaseline. It didn’t deeply condition my lips like some lip balms out there, but it did moisturise them very well for such a well-priced product. For example, I think it does just as good a job (if not slightly better) than the Maybelline Babylips which featured in the last bin diaries. I was impressed with the performance of this and really enjoyed using it.
To buy (again) or not to buy?: When I use up the other 2 tubes, I will be straight back to Wilko’s to buy more of this. Excellent.
Calvin Klein Eternity Moment // This I received free in a goody bag a number of years ago, but as it’s not really my kind of fragrance I left it lying around for ages. Conscious that I’d have to either give it away or use it up before it went off, I took the plunge and started using it last summer after drawing a blank of anyone I knew who might enjoy the scent. I used this excessively through most of last year and kind of tricked myself into thinking it was ok. It took me ages to use the last bit of the bottle but it’s finally gone now and I'm very pleased to see the back of it
To buy (again) or not to buy?: No!
Une Radiance Refresh Night & Day 3 in 1 micellar cleansing water // This came in a trial pack which I will be reviewing in due course. It was pretty good, and the bottle was a handy size for travel, but overall I say it was nothing special.
To buy (again) or not to buy?: It’s not currently available to buy in the UK and it’s not special enough to go the extra mile to sourcing it, so no. If it were readily available in the shops….maybe.
Elemis Papaya enzyme peel // This is a teeny sample and I don’t think it was really enough to get a good feel for the product. Elemis is a great brand and produces really high quality products (if you believe the marketing), but I wasn’t bowled over by this. I didn’t notice a difference in my skin after using the product, unfortunately.
To buy (again) or not to buy?: Nope. Also it’s pretty expensive so you’d want to be sure it does something before you shell out.
Clinique lip palette // This came in a bonus time an age ago, and I tried very hard to use it but I just don’t love it and it’s taking up too much room in my makeup collection so I've decided to be sensible and just chuck it out. The problem with this is that I don’t really like any of the shades by themselves (clockwise from top left: Toasted Rose, Red Drama, Pure Posh and Sassy Spice). I also found the formula wasn't great - it did that thing where it goes patchy and balls up on your lips, not attractive - and application tricky as the product is quite thick. It does come with a tiny lip brush but this went very grotty very quickly so was a bit useless. I suppose this is meant to be a handbag sized compact for touch ups on the go, but it just didn't work for me. This could have been so good and ended up being a disappointment
To buy (again) or not to buy?: This was a bonus time product so you can’t buy it. But even if you could, I wouldn't. Stick to Clinique's normal lipsticks - they’re fabulous.
That's all for this instalment folks, stay tuned for more exciting bin chat soon...
-Rachel
